Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

New Content Coming Soon to Help You Find Deals, Plan Family Time and Prep for Weekend

Wednesday will be all about moms, kids and fun family activities. Thursday will be about planning your weekend and other news you can use.

Starting Thursday, San Bruno Patch will be launching a new batch of content devoted to helping our users make the most out of the local community.

The emphasis will be on providing news and information for moms and families, but we'll also be providing information that will help all of our users make weekend plans.

Here's how it will go.

Along with our regular news content, Thursdays will be all about the weekend: Weekly restaurant profiles, a calendar of events, a roundup of open houses for real estate buffs and some fun photo galleries to show you what's been going on around town.

On Wednesdays, look for leads on bargains at local stores, a column that will answer your parenting questions, a feature highlighting awesome local kids, kid-free outing ideas for moms (and dads!) and a short calendar of family-friendly things to do. Wednesday's content will be driven by an awesome group of moms (and a dad) who we've brought together to bring you the best ideas and stories catering to parents. They will help us answer the community's questions and keep us (and you) better informed about local parenting issues. The advisory group will be introduced next week (and don't be surprised if recognize any of them).

On another note, you will soon see some other changes on the site. As part of a Patchwide effort to make our content more interesting and our sites more efficient, we will be discontinuing several columns.

We will be bidding adieu to the following columns:

We're sad to see them go, but they weren't doing as well as I had hoped. If you feel differently, please send me your feedback and perhaps we'll be able to bring some of them back. The Life is Good column will be transformed into our new moms column, which will run on Wednesdays. The rest of the columns will stay the same.

This is all being done to meet the San Bruno community's news and information desire. And, remember, the site is your space (a.k.a. patch) too. So if you're on a PTA or in an organization that puts on activities in San Bruno, please continue to post your events and announcements. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter. And continue to send news tips and interact with stories and other content that are posted on the site.

Our goal is to eventually be able to figure out exactly what the community wants to know and give exactly that to you.

I love In the Brushstroke! It is very interesting to learn about the artistic process. It is also a nice little reminder to look for the beauty in the everyday.

Thanks for the feedback, Heidi. I'll keep that in mind as we continue to evaluate the site. I hope (many) others feel the same way.
