YouTube's Most Viral Videos of 2011

The videos most watched on San Bruno-based YouTube this year included a Star Wars-themed Volkswagen commercial, a conversation among twin baby brothers and Rebecca Black's "Friday" song.

When you think back on 2011, what's the first thing that comes to mind when you think of what were the most memorable moments of the year?

Volkswagen's debut of the new Passat using a clever commercial with a pint-sized Darth Vader who believed he had "The Force?" A seemingly cohesive conversation between twin babies speaking gibberish to each other? Or the awkward blastoff to stardom that came after a 13-year-old released a music video for her monotonous song that everyone loved to hate?

According to , these moments and several others were posted on the world's most popular video-sharing website and became the top 10 most viral videos of the year.

In all, the site generated more than 1 trillion playbacks throughout the year, the company said on its blog earlier this month.

I have to admit: I've watched all of these videos. Maybe it was just to keep up with the joneses. Perhaps I was just curious. For some of them, I wish I had never clicked the play button (video No. 1, for example). But for those of you who were like me and watched all of the following videos on YouTube at some point during the year, at least we can now say we were a part of history.
