Let us start getting rid of these eyesore buildings and bring popular businesses to San Bruno soRead Moreres idents don't have to do business in other cities.

Robert, Great idea! I'll see what I can do this week if someone doesn't beat me to it. WE doRead Morehave until May 13, 2014, to protest the increase. Interesting that this year they included the actual rate payers (renters) the opportunity to protest the increase. Last time they did not. Marty Medina
Heidi Beck March 30, 2014 at 11:40 PM
I'm not sure they will count email -- I believe the protest needs a signature to be counted asRead Morevalid . You don't need to write a fancy letter. A postcard saying "I protest the garbage increase" will do, but it needs to include the name of the property owner or the Recology customer submitting the protest, the signature of that person, and the street address or assessor's parcel number of the service location for which the protest is submitted. Mail or drop it off at San Bruno City Hall, Office of the City Clerk, 567 El Camino Real. No reason you couldn't pass out postcards to your neighbors and gather them up to drop off at city hall. Or send an email to all your San Bruno contacts with information on how to protest.

WHAT A SHOCKER! Here we go again, another year another proposed increase. I will definitely be atRead Moreth e Mid-May meeting. these comments and others will not make a difference because the state is putting pressure on the local cities to not have any land fill usage for garbage. You will see an increase forever whether you vote against it or not. They want you to reduce garbage by another 25% in 2 years and another and another..You really need to have competition and other bids from a different company. Also, every time the employees ask for more money and benefits the city goes ahead and allows the increases. Poor managing on behalf of the garbage company.

Upstanding citizens should not fear the government and or their police departments. I am perfectlyRead Moreh appy with the San Bruno's Police department. I just wish they would keep better logs of their arrests online so I can keep a better eye on what is going on around me. I'm sure I'll never be in cuffs ever! In my life time.

It is not the publics business to pry into the private doings of individuals. Lead your life with a Read Moreblind eye and and all will be dandy.
Jeffrey March 28, 2014 at 12:45 AM
@T Let me say this! If you keep a blind eye, the scums of the Earth shall descend upon yourRead Moreneighb orhood.... and they'll get IN YOUR FACE. The more you back away, the more they'll encroach. Get to know your neighbors, and together you can overcome any intruder. Most problem households are no greater than 2% of the neighbors. Some are outsiders, but you wouldn't know unless you got to know your neighbors. Be proactive, and don't wait until something blows up in your face before you respond.

I agree! Let's get something going to get the attention of Lee's Buffet to do something! I'm tiredRead Moreo f people using San Bruno as a dumping ground for illegal businesses and unused crappy property property!
Marty Medina April 04, 2014 at 01:16 PM
Ok. i sent the following email to the city council. Let's what happens next. "DearRead MoreCouncil Members, A number or residents have been posting on San Bruno Patch regarding a few eye sores in our city. In particular the property formerly know as "Lee's Buffet." Here is the link....http://sanbruno.patch.com/groups/opinion/p/lees-buffet-on-el-camino-real I have recently advised the community development department of homeless in the old El Camino Theatre building too. The fence on Mastick is encroaching into the sidewalk. There is a major sidewalk trip hazard caused by the tree too. Clearly something can be done to improve the appearance of abandoned businesses. We look forward to your attention and action. Thank you. Marty Medina"

Dear Ann..Call the city clerk and find out the corporation that owns the whole corner and then call Read Morethe planning department and or the city engineer. Also, you can call the city managers office and the city attorney because they are suppose to know who is in town to do an environmental clean up.

You might hear something from certain members but doing something about it is the issue..sendRead Moreinform ation to the mayor he just gives it to someone else and no followup. This has gone on for years and will continue. Because you do not have control from the city manager then your departments, council, and others will continue to do business as usual.

Agreed! Positively scary driving south on Huntington, the stop sign is too far back.
Heidi Beck February 07, 2014 at 01:30 AM
I agree about traveling southbound on Huntington -- visibility was awful last night in the rain. IRead Moref illed out the traffic complaint form on SBPD website some time ago and got a call the next day from an officer. He said they would be paying extra attention at that intersection. I would urge you to call or email SBPD and contact the city's traffic safety committee. The more they hear from people, the more likely they will do something.
