Celia's Has Best Burrito in San Bruno, Readers Say

This week's readers' choice poll focused on which restaurant serves up the best burrito.

If you're looking for the best burrito in San Bruno, then head on over to Celia's, readers said in this week's readers' choice poll. Everyone seemed to have their own favorite, but out of a total of 90 voters, Celia's got 34 votes in the poll. Here are some important things happening around town that everyone should know about this upcoming week. Sunday, May 20. 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The grand opening for the new farmers market will take place in front of The Shops at Tanforan. Join Mayor Jim Ruane and others at about 10 a.m. for the grand opening ceremonies. About 40-plus vendors are expected, and they will be selling fresh fruits and vegetables from local farmers as well as other goods. Special events are also being planned for each day the market is open. There will be special booths each Sunday featuring various San Bruno Chamber members, and on many Sundays one of the city's committees, commissions or local nonprofit groups will be manning an informational booth. PG&E Looking to Resolve Explosion Lawsuits by Fall

In a news conference, PG&E's top executive said a number of lawsuits stemming from the 2010 San Bruno fire have already been settled. The rest should be resolved by September, he said.

PG&E's CEO said Monday the company has settled a number of the lawsuits residents have filed stemming from the 2010 San Bruno pipeline explosion, and the company is expecting to resolve all of them by September, according to MarketWatch. In a press conference held before the company's annual shareholders meeting in San Francisco, CEO Anthony Earley declined to provide details about how many lawsuits have already been settled or how much each person was compensated for. But Earley said he expects more lawsuits to be settled out of court as the July jury trial approaches. PG&E is facing more than 250 lawsuits for the disaster, which left 38 homes destroyed, eight people dead, and many more homes damaged and people injured.  According to …

And where else can you get this balance of veggies, carbs, protein and flavor for (typically) under five bucks? Bill Aims to Tie Utility Executive Bonuses to Pipeline Safety

Assemblyman Jerry Hill plans to introduce the new legislation on the day PG&E holds its annual shareholders meeting in San Francisco.

Assemblyman Jerry Hill is expected to introduce a new bill Monday looking to require utility executives to return their bonuses if their companies are fined for safety violations. According to Hill's office, he plans to introduce the bill on the day when PG&E holds its annual shareholders meeting in San Francisco. Hill, D-San Mateo, said he is trying to stop practices such as what happened in 2011 when former PG&E Corp. CEO Peter Darbee left the company amid the San Bruno pipeline explosion aftermath with a $38 million severance package. San Bruno Flower Fashions Voted Best Florist

Readers voted for their favorite florist in this week's readers' choice poll.

Readers voted San Bruno Flower Fashions as the best florist in the city in this week's readers' choice poll. The poll had 13 votes, and Flower Fashions garnered eight of them. So if you're still thinking about ordering a bouquet for Mother's Day, readers said Flower Fashions is the best place to go. According to a Patch review about the florist, the "service is friendly and helpful and willing to work with your budget—you definitely get the personal touch here." Next week, San Bruno Patch will be looking for the best burrito in the city. The voting for that contest begins at 9 a.m. on Monday.

Feds Urge Pipeline Companies to Heed Recordkeeping Laws

The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration issed an advisory notice to all pipeline operators this week warning them of new mandates to keep up-to-date records to prove they are running the nation's aging pipelines at safe pressures.
