San Bruno Police Nab Daytime Burglary Suspect

Suspect is a San Bruno resident. There was also an attempted burglary reported earlier in the day.

Late in the afternoon of Tuesday, March 26, San Bruno police arrested a man suspected in the daytime burglary of a home in the 1200 block of Huntington Avenue.

The incident began to unfold  at 5:45 p.m. when police received a call from the home’s occupants that there was an unknown person in the backyard.

According to a release sent by San Bruno Police Commander Noreen Hanlon, shortly after he ignored knocking on his front door the resident was informed by his son that an unknown person was in the backyard.

The suspect fled the scene when confronted by the resident, but was located by police a short distance away and positively identified by the victim.

The suspect was in possession of property taken from the Huntington Avenue home according to the release.

After being identified as the person in the backyard, police arrested 29-year-old Randy Christopher Norman of San Bruno.

“At this time it's not known if this individual is responsible for any other burglaries,” said Hanlon.   "We are still looking into this possibility.”

This was the second daytime burglary reported in San Bruno on Wednesday.

"At 3:17 p.m. the Police Dept. received a report of an attempted residential burglary on the 1000 block of Montgomery Avenue," said Hanlon in an email. "The incident occurred during daytime hours, and entry was attempted via prying a side door lock."

The San Bruno Police Department encourages the public to remain vigilant, and immediately report suspicious persons or vehicles in their neighborhoods.
