Things To Know: Arbor Day in San Bruno (Photos)

A dozen trees were planted by volunteers in San Bruno on Saturday. Check the photos to see if you know anyone who participated.

Today San Bruno celebrated Arbor Day.  San Bruno is a Tree City and as such we need to have an official Arbor Day event each year.

Danielle Brewer of the City along with a number of our park employees arranged to plant 12 new trees in the 7th Avenue Park between Pine and Angus starting at 10 a.m.  A number of San Bruno residents and a couple of previous residents and a couple of scouts all participated in the planting.  Park employees arrive early and manually dug the holes of the correct size and depth.  Residents arrived and assisted in the actually tree removal from their containers, scraped up the root balls and while one held the tree upright, others filled in the hole.  A small water trough was formed around each tree to be used the first few weeks.

The Scouts were seen picking up litter around the park as they waited to plant the trees.

As the result of today, San Bruno now has 12 new trees as a part of the 7th Avenue Park.
