The Principal of the San Bruno CA Belle Air Elementary school sent the following home with his students:
September 13, 2013
I am writing you to inform you of a gas leak that was reported yesterday, September 12. When we received the report, we promptly notified PG&E, and shortly thereafter they came out to inspect the entire Belle Air facility.
PG&E did not find any leaks that posed a safety hazard to the school. However, they did find low level leaks at two locations in and around the school that required attention. Yesterday the gas was turned off and was not turned back on until the repairs were completed to ensure the safety of all students and everyone else on campus.
Today the gas lines were replaced or repaired. PG&E inspected the work and said that the two leaks were successfully repaired. The District was involved at every step of the way the last two days to ensure the safety of everyone at Belle Air School.
Student safety is our first and primary concern and at no time was any student or any adult at risk on the campus. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
