Things To Know: San Bruno Grade Separation Street Closing

Caltrain Construction and Maintenance: May 25 to May 31, 2013 May 23, 2013 San Bruno Grade Separation Project Day work will be done from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. This week, crews will be painting, installing drywall and waterproofing the platforms of the new station being built. Crews also will be removing the shoofly (temporary) tracks along the project area corridor. Night work will occur from Saturday, May 25, through Friday, May 31, between 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. On Saturday, May 25, crews will be testing signals in preparation for trains to begin operating Sunday morning on the new, elevated tracks. Crews also will be removing the shoofly tracks at San Bruno, San Mateo and Angus avenues this week at night. The shoofly will be removed and temporary pavement will be placed in one night shift for each location. Streets will be closed to through traffic from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on the following days: • Tuesday, May 28 – San Bruno Avenue (westbound) between Huntington and San Mateo avenues • Wednesday, May 29 – San Bruno Avenue (eastbound) between Huntington and San Mateo avenues • Wednesday, May 29 – San Mateo Avenue (both directions) between Huntington and San Bruno avenues • Thursday, May 30 – Angus Avenue (both directions) between Huntington and 1st avenues Please note, work on eastbound San Bruno Avenue and both directions of San Mateo Avenue will be done concurrently over the course of one night shift. Traffic will be detoured to San Mateo and San Bruno when Angus is closed. Traffic will be detoured to San Bruno when San Mateo is closed. There will be some construction noise, but crews will work as quietly as possible. The $147 million project will elevate the Caltrain tracks above three existing at-grade street crossings at San Bruno, San Mateo and Angus avenues. A new elevated Caltrain station between San Bruno and San Mateo avenues will replace the station at Sylvan Avenue. Work on this project will not disrupt Caltrain service.
