Patch Whiz Kid of the Week: Eva Jolivette

The Belle Air first-grader has been named this year's Posy Parade princess.

Eva Jolivette, 7, a first-grader at , has been named the princess for Sunday’s . For the parade, Eva will get to ride on top of a float along with the four other girls, who will be in her court, and get treated like royalty for a day. She already has her dress picked out. It is purple and lavender, satin and flowing and used to be one of her older sister Sofia’s costumes. She even has a wand to go along with the dress. Since her family has lived in San Bruno, this will be Eva’s first time participating in the parade. The talkative 7-year-old said she is most excited about riding on top of the float and being surrounded by flowers.

Here are a few facts about this year’s Posy Parade princess:

  • She is the youngest of five children and has more than 10 nieces and nephews from her parents’ previous marriages.
  • She and her siblings all love horses and know how to ride them.
  • She plays for the Mud Hens in the Pee Wee baseball league.
  • Her mom, Veronica Jolivette, nicknamed her “Monkey” because Eva has always enjoyed climbing up trees and fences. The nickname stuck after her mom saw her swinging from her bunk bed when she was younger.
  • Eva once broke her arm after falling from the monkey bars at a playground. She said she had lost her grip because she had just eaten a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and the oil from the peanut butter was still on her fingers. Now, she doesn't like to eat peanut butter anymore. "Only jelly," Eva said.
  • While her first, the parade will be a special one for Eva because she and her family will be dedicating the event to longtime family friend , one of the residents who was killed in the Sept. 9 gas pipeline explosion in the Crestmoor neighborhood. “They looked up to her as a sister,” Veronica Jolivette said of her kids.
