A Back-to-School Shopping Spree for the Diaz Family

"Our hope is that by helping these children with their school supplies, we show them God's love," a Salvation Army volunteer said.

Target and the Salvation Army teamed up on Tuesday to give children from throughout San Mateo County a at the store in San Bruno.

In all, Salvation Army volunteers helped 35 children buy new school supplies and outfits just in time for the school year. Through a generous donation, 10 more kids were helped this year.

One of those families helped was Maria Diaz and her two kids, who go to Los Cerritos Elementary in South San Francisco.

Patch followed them as they went on their shopping spree through the store.

"Our hope is that by helping these children with their school supplies, we show them God's love," said Lt. Sean O'Brien of the Salvation Army. "We hope that they see that what we believe is what we're doing."
