Fresh Choice Closes San Bruno Restaurant

The restaurant suddenly closed this month. Could this be an indication of where the company is going as a whole?

The Fresh Choice restaurant in San Bruno Towne Center has closed, San Bruno Patch has learned.

The signage has been taken down, which is the main indicator that the casual buffet-style eatery has left San Bruno.

The company has provided no other information about the closure. But according to other Patches in the area, Fresh Choice has been closing a number of its restaurants lately.

Several Yelp reviews showed that customers who were used to dining at the San Bruno Fresh Choice were disheartened by the recent closure:

When I got there, the restaurant looked suspiciously dark.  I see a guy on a ladder and asked him what the deal was.  He said they were "closed."  I go "closed for remodel or closed for good?"  He said, "Closed for good."  They shut down this past Wednesday.

Sad so sad. This was the biggest FC in the Bay Area (two sided salad bar!).  So sad but I heard they were in a steady decline for the better part of last year and this.

RIP SB FC!

Fresh Choice filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2004. But there is no indication whether the restaurant chain is facing a similar situation now.

When I contacted the company at its headquarters, a Fresh Choice human resources employee didn't sound so optimistic about the company's future.

"We're not doing so well," the employee said, when reached by phone. "We may not even be in business."

Mr, Kiely, When they cut school days, isn't the savings in that the employees who directly work withRead More and for the children are deprived of that many days of pay??? Do the principals also lose 5 days pay? Does Hutt lose 5 days pay? Do the board members lose 5 days worth of their stipend. In other words, is the bad tasting medicine swallowed by everyone in the school district in a sincere effort to cure the ills of this school district Or is it just the teachers and the classified workers who are called upon to attempt a restoral of good health, the direct result of poor management and less than admirable leadership that has brought about ths crisis??

Mr, Kiely, Somewhere I heard that they were considering stopping contracting out PE at a largeRead More savings. Was that discussed last week? I was not abe to stay the entire evening. I question why they would have contracted for PE at the elementary level. Isn't that what recess and the balance of lunch time was for? Physical activity??? Thank you in advance for your always knowledgeable answer to my questions.

District cutting school days? The District is showing an agreement with the union which will saveRead More $200K. It doesn't show where the money is coming from, but the amount makes it look like they are cutting 5 days from the calendar. Dr. Hutt said at the last meeting that the length of the school year was still under negotiation.
