New Clothing Store to Open Downtown

A storefront that had been vacant for years is no longer without a tenant after a new business owner decided to open a clothing store on San Mateo Avenue.

San Mateo Avenue has a new business coming soon.

A new clothing store is moving into the storefront at 489 San Mateo Ave. that used to be Lucky Gifts. The name of the store is Akarsman Design Boutique, and the new sign has already been put up outside.

The store is now in the process of improving the inside of the store, City Manager Connie Jackson said.

No other information is available about the store at the moment, Jackson said.

While Lucky Gifts was vacant, residents had a number of ideas about what could replace the store. A bike shop, a boutique health market and a bakery were some of the ideas thrown around.

In the end, it looks like a clothing shop was the store of choice for the new business owner.

Patch will follow up on this development as more information becomes available.
