The California Small Business Association and 25 chambers of commerce joined the state Legislature in the salute to small businesses.  Members of the Legislature were invited to single out a small business in the district for the honor.

Senator Hill said The Dylan at SFO and the Ongerths were standouts for recognition.

“For more than 25 years, The Dylan at SFO has been family owned, and owner-operators Barry and Christina Ongerth and their hotel are active, involved and respected members of the community who have worked to enhance the business profile of San Mateo County and the City of Millbrae -- and they have encouraged businesses to engage in civic activities as well,” said Hill. “I am delighted to name The Dylan at SFO as the Small Business of the Year for the 13th Senate District.”

“My wife, Christina, and I, are extremely pleased to receive this prestigious award from Senator Hill,” said Barry Ongerth. “There are so many deserving businesses in the 13th Senate District and to be chosen from that group of peers is truly an honor.  We will continue our work in the community to bring more business to Millbrae.”

Barry Ongerth has owned The Dylan at SFO, a boutique hotel, since 1987, and he and his wife oversee day-to-day operations. Barry Ongerth is a past chairman of the board of directors of the Millbrae Chamber of Commerce, he is the immediate past chairman of the San Mateo County Silicon Valley Convention and Visitors’ Bureau, and he is chairman of the City of Millbrae’s Tourism Committee.

The Ongerths also sponsor a team in the Burlingame Youth Baseball Association.
