Stores at Bayhill, Tanforan Close; Some Find New Tenants

When I'm out and about on assignments or checking in on what's happening in the community, I sometimes see things that make me go, "Hmm."

That reaction often comes from seeing a vacant building or storefront, especially when that place seems to have been vacant for a long time or when that place seems to have closed its doors suddenly.

I've seen several vacant storefronts recently, so I wondered, "What's up with that?"

The store in the Bayhill Shopping Center that used to be GameStop shut down in recent weeks. The leasing agency handling the vacancy, Terranomics, said it hasn't yet received any requests from businesses interested in moving in the storefront.

Another store in the shopping center between Kleo's and Roobik's Hair Cut has also been vacant for awhile. A new business, Bayhill Spa, is planning on moving in within the next few months, according to Terranomics.

If you've recently been in The Shops at Tanforan near the movie theater, you might have noticed that two restaurants on the second level are no longer there. Mai Thai suddenly closed down for unknown reasons. Potato Corner and Fatt Dog have also shut down.

Also, Jake's BBQ has moved in next to Great Steak & Potato in the food court, according to the mall's management office.
