Sunday's Open Houses: Huntington Park Gem, Corner Lot, and Cute Home With Charm

The following homes are holding open houses Sunday. One home is in Huntington Park, one of San Bruno's oldest neighborhoods.

The two-bedroom, one-bathroom home for sale at 465 Cypress Ave. in San Bruno is located in the heart of Huntington Park, one of San Bruno's oldest neighborhoods. San Bruno had a humble beginning as a stop on the Butterfield stage coach route until its incorporation in 1914. An inn was built on the corner of what is currently El Camino Real and San Mateo Avenue in 1849. The inn was originally known as Thorpe's Place and later became , a popular eating and gambling establishment for several years. The inn was torn down in 1949 and became home to a Lucky's. The site is currently a drugstore.

Huntington Park runs from Santa Lucia north until Kains Avenue and stretches from El Camino Real west to Cherry Avenue. Huntington Park is home to , a California distinguished school, as well as and . The paving of California's first highway, El Camino Real, began in 1912 and broke ground in Huntington Park right in front of Uncle Tom's Cabin  on Crystal Springs Road and El Camino Real.
