The San Francisco Business Times named Dan Springer of Responsys the best CEO of a small company.

The San Francisco Business Times recently named the top executive of a San Bruno-based marketing software maker the best CEO of a small company.

Dan Springer, who has been CEO of Responsys since 2004, was given the honor in May at the Business Times' Tech and Innovation Awards, which recognizes the Bay Area's most innovative and enterprising technology companies and entrepreneurs that are fueling the local economy.

According to a statement, Responsys, which provides email and social marketing solutions to travel, financial and clothing companies throughout the world, saw its revenue grow 42 percent last year under Springer's leadership. The company also saw its shares jump more than 28 percent in April when it launched its initial public offering of about 6.6 million shares, which was priced at $12 per share and raised $79.2 million, according to a San Jose Mercury News story.
