Venture Capital Firm Moves Headquarters to San Bruno

The Founder's Club's move to "the heart of the Silicon Valley" made sense, a statement says.

An international venture capital fund company has moved its headquarters from London to San Bruno, calling the move “a natural progression” as it marks the company's global expansion.

The Founders Club allows venture capital-backed entrepreneurs to invest a percentage of future equity returns into one of the Founders Club funds in exchange for fund ownerships and membership in the club. Members contribute cash from their proceeds when they sell or liquidate their equity position in their company.

"It's kind of like a mutual fund," said Andrew Romans, general partner of The Founders Club, "except that it's exclusively open to CEOs and founders of venture-capital-backed firms."

Portfolio companies are selected by committees comprised of advisors from “premier venture capital firms in the U.S., Europe and Israel," according to a prepared statement, which does not name the firms.

The Founders Club is seeking new members into two of its portfolios, one of which focuses on the clean-tech industry and the other on the healthcare of biotechnology industries.

The firm's office on Bayhill Drive will share a building with another San Bruno-based venture capital firm, VantagePoint Venture Partners, which has been investing heavily in the clean-tech industry.
