What's Trending on YouTube? Fireworks

In just a week's time, thousands of videos of fireworks displays were shared on YouTube, causing a huge spike in searches for Fourth of July celebrations.

Every week, tracks videos uploaded to its site and breaks down which ones are the most popular among the millions of videos that people share.

Last week, it should be no surprise that videos of fireworks shows around the world were trending.

What is surprising, according to the YouTube Trends blog, is how many videos were posted: 30,000.

Videos capturing San Diego's fireworks show, which went beautifully wrong and is now being called the "Big Bay Boom 'Bust,'" are attracting a record number of views.

"Over 30,000 fireworks-related videos were posted in the past week and the most popular footage was from the San Diego display, which so far has been seen over 5 million times combined," YouTube said.
