Status on San Bruno Fire Recovery...Not much

My recent visit to the San Bruno Gas Explosion site and my thoughts of the redevelopment of the area.

I recently visited the site of the San Bruno gas explosion near Crestmoor Canyon. It seems there is very little progress in the redevelopment of the area. 38 homes were destroyed from the fire and now there are only 8 homes fully rebuilt after 2 years. I wish the redevelopment of that area was complete, but the NTSB investigation delayed the redevelopment. From what my grandparents went through to get a permit to rennovate their house about 6 years ago, it is a very long and tedious process that can cause substantial stress to people. The Planning Commission of San Bruno should make the Glenview area homes priority to approve the permits to rebuild. The survivors of the fire already went through so much stress and emotional hardship from the gas line explosion and they do not need more stress to rebuild. I think that's why many residents are not returning.

Many people criticize the residents rebuilding stating that all they want is money. I think it's right they are trying to get a lot of money from PG&E as the fire was not their fault; it was the fault of PG&E because of their negligence.

Watching the news reports of the 2nd anniversary of the fire, it was truly an embarrasment for San Bruno from the fact that only 8 homes were rebuilt after 2 years.

The plans for redevelopment of the area is really beautiful. The Glenview area will look great from what the plans are. There is a meeting on Thursday Septermber 20th from 6-8PM at San Bruno City Hall about the Traffc Calming Measures for Glenview Drive. They have a couple proposals, but I think the traffic circles proposals would look great on Glenview Drive.

Once the Cresmtmoor Rebuilding Project is over, San Bruno should focus on the beautification of the rest of San Bruno such as fixing roads and planting trees in areas that do not look so great. Also San Bruno should focus on revitilizing our schools reputation in the city as things aren't looking great for the schools.

I have some pictures that I took this past week at the blast site. Visiting the site standing at the location of Line 132 brought chills down my spine.

I have also provided information about the meeting on Sept. 20th. Feel free to leave comments about anything regarding the rebuilding of the Glenview area.
