9 Things to Know This Week in San Bruno

Look out for the transit corridors plan information booth at the downtown farmers' market and see if your school will be hosting the concession stand at City Park this summer.

Here are some important things happening around town that everyone should know about this week.

Events

Today, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Transit corridors plan information booth at the . City personnel will be available with maps and graphic posters illustrating important aspects of the proposed plan. Informational handouts will be available. The city seeks your input on the (as currently proposed) aspects of this plan. The height question for portions will need to go to a vote of the residents before approval. More information at planbruno.org. Contact Mark Sullivan at 650-616-7053 or msullivan@sanbruno.ca.gov. The transit corridors plan booth will also be at the June 5 downtown farmers' market.

June 5, 1-2 p.m. The will start down San Mateo Avenue from Kain Avenue and cross El Camino Real and up Crystal Springs Avenue to City Park. All San Bruno schools, sports teams and other groups will be entering non-motorized floats or bands or just walking. Join the parade along San Mateo Avenue to watch and cheer the participants on. Prizes will be presented.

June 11, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Seventh Annual San Mateo County Disaster Preparedness Day at the fair, held at the San Mateo County Event Center, 1346 Saratoga Ave., in San Mateo. Arrive before 11 a.m. for free parking and admission to the county fair. For more information, contact county Supervisor Adrienne J. Tissier at 650-363-4572.

Aug. 24. start the 2011-12 school year. You must be present or you could lose your child’s place in the class.

Committee Meetings

June 8, 7 p.m. . Meets second Thursday of every month at City Hall.

July 20, 6:30 p.m. . Meets third Wednesday of every month at City Hall.

Who's Who and What's What

1. There are new owners for the furniture store in the old Ford building.

2. There are new officers for the  PTA for next school year: President Nina Keys, Vice President Dana Facciano, Treasurer Maria Vasil, Secretary Charlie Attard. Additional positions are available. Contact Nina at nina@keysfamily.org.

3. Many schools will be hosting the concession stand at for a two-week period during the summer for fundraisers. Contact your school to see which two weeks your school has and volunteer to help man it. You get to meet a lot of interesting people and make money for your school.
