Caltrain Pushes to Fix Broken Rail in San Bruno

The broken rail was discovered early this morning on a southbound track near Angus Avenue. Maintenance crews are expected to be working into the evening to fix the track so that trains can return to operating at normal speeds.

Caltrain has made temporary repairs on a broken rail discovered this morning on a southbound track in San Bruno, but trains are still running slower than normal through the area, a spokeswoman said.

Maintenance crews made the repairs at 11 a.m. after the broken rail was reported around 7:30 a.m. near Angus Avenue. After the morning delay, trains began to single-track through South San Francisco and San Bruno, causing train traffic in the area to slow.

Caltrain spokeswoman Christine Dunn said the broken track will be permanently repaired tonight after trains have stopped operating.
