City Remembers Victims, Neighborhood on One-Year Anniversary of Fire

Nearly 600 people showed up to the city's memorial gathering on Friday to celebrate the lives of the eight people who died in the Sept. 9 pipeline explosion.

Nearly 600 people, including residents, officials, police officers, firefighters and Rep. Jackie Speier, showed up to the city's memorial gathering on Friday at to mark the one-year anniversary of the Sept. 9 pipeline explosion.

While hearts were heavy remembering the day last year that claimed eight lives and destroyed 38 homes in the Crestmoor neighborhood, the gathering celebrated the eight residents who died and raised the hope of a city still in recovery.

All this week, San Bruno Patch looks back at Sept. 9, 2010, and talks with people affected about their lives in the past year.
