Our Picks for Pops This Weekend

Cast off with Dad, toast him, or treat him to a massage.

Each year, when summer is just about in full swing, dads across America get ready for their designated day of family, relaxation and recognition. With Father’s Day Sunday, we’ve drawn up some local plans for where to take dad and how to treat him for a day he’ll remember this year.

Bring Dad to this South San Francisco Harley showroom/history museum for an afternoon of classic hogs and dream bikes. There is no entrance fee, and the on-site merchandise shop is the perfect place to pick up a Harley jacket and other paraphernalia. The showroom is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day.

Does Dad love beer? Lunch or dinner at BJ’s will make his Father’s Days a little hoppier. Treat him to one of the chain’s specialty craft brews this weekend and he’ll come away with a souvenir pint glass. He can also enter the restaurant's Father’s Day contest in which one lucky dad will win a trip for four to Pebble Beach.

Everyone loves a picnic, and this longstanding sandwich shop and convenience store serves up the perfect fare for a sunny day in the park. Grab a few sandwiches, a picnic blanket, a football and a frisbee and help dad unwind under the sun this Sunday.

If you’re planning on taking the old man out for a Father’s Day fishing trip, be sure to visit this all-encompassing South San Francisco fishing supply shop beforehand. Although Hi’s is closed on Sundays, you can stop by the day before to pick up a new rod as a gift, or just to stock up on bait and other necessities before hitting the bay or your favorite lake.

Who couldn’t use a massage now and then? Help your dad ease those aching muscles with a relaxing shiatsu massage from a professional masseuse. Schedule him an appointment either this weekend or soon thereafter to give him a gift he’ll look forward to.
