Passengers Talk About Engine Explosion and Tense Moments Afterward

San Bruno Patch contributor Bryan C. Carmody, who was on the scene when the Qantas plane took an emergency landing at SFO this morning, captured this footage.

The following is raw footage of the Qantas Airways Flight No. 74 emergency landing early this morning at SFO captured by videographer Bryan C. Carmody.

The footage was mostly shot from the South Field checkpoint after the plane began pulling into the gate about 12:45am. The airport had just declared an Alert 2, which means a probable crash was about to occur.

We have edited the footage some more to cut to the passenger interviews more quickly. In the first part of the clip, you can see firefighters from the San Francisco Fire Department's Airport Division responding to the scene. Next, you can  see someone in the plane's motor surveying the damage, followed by an unknown maintenance worker who shows two images of the damage to the plane's engine.

The last part of the clip, about a minute into the footage, shows three interviews with passengers from the flight at the airport's baggage claim.
