Recovery Center Gets New Grant From Peninsula Health Care District

The Health District Board of Trustees will give out awards to 19 organizations, including the San Bruno Resource and Recovery Center, at its regular meeting Thursday at 5:45 p.m. in the San Mateo Council Chambers.

Nineteen health-focused organizations in San Mateo County will receive a boost to their funding today when the distributes $2.15 million in grants.

The District Board of Trustees look for organizations that are advancing the health and well being of San Mateo County residents, which falls in line with the District’s goals of improving health through education, prevention and health care access. Members analyze the health needs of the community and make their decisions based on what groups are providing these most needed services.

“The Peninsula Health Care District relies on these dedicated community partners to help us achieve our mission,” said District Board Chair Dan Ullyot, MD in a statement.  “We commend their efforts and commitment to providing residents with high-quality and effective health education, prevention and care. Because of their leadership, San Mateo County is at the forefront of delivering accessible, affordable health services to all those in need.”

This year’s grants benefit a wide range of community organizations, such as the in San Bruno and the StarVista Insights Program and Crisis Center. Another recipient is the Children’s Health Initiative. Its grant will cover 100 percent of the cost of providing health insurance to eligible kids in the District.
