Spare the Air Day Declared for Tuesday

With the temperature expected to be in the 80s in San Bruno and throughout the Bay Area, residents are urged to limit driving on Tuesday.

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District has declared Tuesday a Spare the Air Day.

Concentrations of ground-level ozone pollution are expected to be unhealthy on Tuesday. Coupled with hot temperatures and light winds, that will likely produce poor air quality for the Bay Area.

In San Bruno, the high is expected to be 82 degrees with a southwest wind between 11 mph and 14 mph. The temperature should cool off at night with a low of 58 degrees.

Here are some tips to help prevent smog:

  • Carpool or vanpool with friends or co-workers.
  • Take public transportation.
  • Telecommute. Work from home instead of driving to work.
  • Link necessary trips and postpone errands if possible.
