Who's Who and What's What

1. On June 3, John Muir Elementary School held its end-of-the-year picnic. Numerous skills activities were set up through which the classes, broken into three teams, rotated around. A photo of the picnic that followed is attached. Thanks to all of the parents who volunteered to make this another success.

2. Here are some civic organizations you should know about: Rotary Club of San Bruno, P.O. Box 651, San Bruno. Call 650-589-5014 or fax 650-871-0567. San Bruno Lions Club, P.O. Box 388, San Bruno. Call 650-208-6416 or fax 650-259-2398. Soroptimist International, P.O. Box 15, San Bruno. Call 650-697-8590.

3. San Bruno is pleased to welcome the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store at 1600 El Camino Real. The store is open from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. The donations doorway is on the San Diego Avenue side.

4. Don't forget to reserve your barbecue area at one of the city's parks. City Park, for example, has 13 sites available for reservation. To reserve a picnic site, sign up in person at the Veterans Memorial Building between 8 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Fridays and between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Saturdays. Bring your driver's license or identification card as proof of residency to receive the resident rate. For more information, visit the city's website.

5. Communications between both the city and Caltrain resulted in a committment from both agencies to work on cutting the weeds and high grass along the east side of San Antonio Avenue south of the Caltrain station all the way to the San Bruno-Millbrae border. Thanks to the city and Caltrain for both agreeing to mitigate this situation. Hopefully this will all be taken care of before the Fourth of July when high grass is of concern because of possible fire problems.

6. The city has installed a non-cement sidewalk replacement material in a few spots on the 300 block of Linden Avenue next to Walgreens. If you want to see what materials are available to be used when the cement sidewalk alongside of a tree needs to be installed, here is your chance. Send your comments to the city.
