: A motorist struck a pregnant woman on Florida Avenue, where cars often speed. Avenue residents say the accident speaks to the larger traffic issues that have made the street unsafe for pedestrians.

: Police are looking for a man who allegedly shot a weapon into a crowd Friday on Mastick Avenue near downtown in a possible gang-related attack.

Feb. 1

The same firm that was auditing the city of Bell when it came under scrutiny for paying its top officials exorbitant salaries also audits San Bruno's financial statements. But San Bruno officials were kept in the dark, officials say.

California’s Democratic Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer on Monday introduced a bill to intensify gas pipeline oversight and increase penalties for safety violations.

Feb. 2

: PG&E officials revealed the company is scouring through more than a million documents to find records necessary to set safe operation pressures on thousands of miles of pipeline throughout the state.

: PG&E also released the results of a leak survey of all of its gas transmission pipelines that it said found the utility's leak rates and reporting practices compare favorably with the rest of the industry.

 Feb. 3

: With a score of 49 to 36, Capuchino secured the Peninsula Athletic League Lake Division victory over San Mateo at Peninsula High.
