With Homes Rebuilt, City Says 'Welcome Back'

City officials and residents gathered in the Crestmoor neighborhood to mark another step forward since the 2010 pipeline explosion devastated the community.

The city held a ceremony in the Crestmoor neighborhood Monday to celebrate the residents who finished rebuilding their homes following the 2010 PG&E pipeline explosion.

Thirty-eight homes were destroyed and eight people were left dead after the fire. As of May, three of the homes that were destroyed have been rebuilt and 12 others have been repaired. Twenty-seven other homes are still in some building or planning stage.
