A Thousand Origami Cranes - A Fundraiser for Japan Disaster Relief

The crane in Japan is one of the most mystical creatures, and it is said to live a thousandyears. A Japanese legend promises that anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes will begranted a wish, such as long life, recovery from illness, or injury. A thousand paper cranesstrung together is called “senbazuru”, it is a special gift given to special friends and family. It symbolizes hope, peace, and prosperity.

It is our wish that Japan recovers swiftly from the disaster brought about by the earthquake andtsunami. It is our hope that the symbolic gesture of making a thousand cranes will send raysof hope from the serious loss, destruction, hardship, and unhappiness among our Japanesefriends, especially for the people of Narita City— San Bruno’s sister city for over twenty years.

Come to Parkside on March 24th, Thursday. Help us fold a thousand paper cranes!
