A Tribute to a Fallen Angel

Losing a good friend is very hard. Knowing that they live on in our hearts is a good part of the healing process.

Maria Guadalupe Fernandez-Terlau, aka: Lupita, was a dear friend to all of us at the Prudential California Realty-San Bruno workplace, especially me. Lupita worked at Prudential for 12 years until just last Tuesday evening where she, her husband Ted, and a friend passed away in a car accident while on a visit to their vacation home in Varas de Navidad, Jalisco, Mexico.

Lupita was as bright as the sun just about everyday. She exercised every morning and worked hard everyday to serve her real estate clients, giving them 110%, always!  Lupita loved to joke and play. She loved her family and friends and quite often loved to have get-togethers where there was positive energy, especially dancing.

Yesterday, when we all heard the news, we at Prudential were all very heartbroken. We thought of Lupita’s daughter, of Ted’s son, and the family that they left behind and how hard this must be for them. We had a memorial lunch at the office for those of us who wanted to be together and mourn our loss.

Today is a new day and I feel a spirit inside of me that I am sure was left by Lupita…I hear her voice telling me that she is fine and that her and Teddy are watching all of us and feel “so so” bad for what we are going through. (That’s how she talked…always thinking of others). I hear her voice with her Spanish accent saying, “HeLLO CunningHAM!” I imagine her speaking softly to me with suggestions always ending in “right?” “Would you rather do this, or would you rather do that? THAT would be better, right? RIIIGHT??” …smiling all the while a great, genuine smile.

Her legacy of generosity, fun, professionalism, courtesy, and true love will live on in our hearts forever. Hasta que nos encontremos de nuevo! Te queremos y te extrañamos!
