Celebrate San Bruno With Dia de los Niños and Relay For Life

Get back in the spirit of the city with these community events on Saturday.

After Wednesday night's crazy three hour school closure meeting, I think we all need to get out and get some fresh air so we can start thinking of some fresh ideas to avoid this kind of community frustration and emotion from happening again. I don't have any answers right now but I do have some ways for us to enjoy the weekend and be insprired!

First of all, San Bruno is holding its first Relay For Life/ Fight Against Cancer at Cap's football field. It is a 24 hour event from 10 am, Sat. to 10 am Sun. The event will be kicked off by Miss. Minnie of Happy Hall singing the National Anthem at 10:30 am. People can come and walk the track and mingle with the various team tables that have been put together. Everyone from the Parkside Leos to the San Bruno Chamber of Commerce with be participating. Anyone can come, make a donation, walk around the track in the name of someone who has lost their battle against cancer or is a survivor!

The Dia de los Niños/ Day of the Child Celebration will be held at San Bruno Park near the gazebo from 1:00-4:00 pm. Here, you can bring a picnic basket, lay out a blanket, and rest after walking a few laps at the Relay For Life! The Dia de los Ninos event is a multi-cultural celebration of children and books! Young readers will receive a free book while supplies last. They will also be given a little passport to go around to the different school tables offering all different types of arts and crafts! FUN!

There will also be entertainment! We will have the honor of watching the Parkside Band perform as well as Irish and Indian dancers and a magician! COOL!

You will have the opportunity to meet all of the awesome San Bruno public schools and community groups at their tables. We get to see the San Bruno Mother's Club as well as a bunch of our San Bruno pre-schools including Happy Hall, St. Andrews and the !
