The Posy Parade is Coming

The floats. The Capuchino alumni band. The community spirit. The baseball game afterwards. The city's annual children's parade brings out the best in San Bruno.

The San Bruno Posy Parade is coming this Sunday, June 3rd, at 1 p.m.! All of the San Bruno schools are preparing their floats! It's cool when I go to pick up my kids at Allen School around this time because a lot of the schools bring their floats there for storage since Allen is close to the starting point of the parade.

The San Bruno Lions Club is preparing its hot dogs, chips, sodas and the Posy Parade Princess Float! The Capuchino Alumni Band is preparing its debut, and the Parkside Intermediate School is preparing its first float in 10 years!

Some other highlights will be the cheering San Bruno baseball and softball teams, various marching bands, floats made by the students, parents and teachers of the San Bruno elementary schools and community floats put together by orginizations such as the Mothers Club.

This year's theme is "Education is Everything." The Posy Parade is celebrating its 72nd year!

Wherever you will watch, get there early, especially if you watch on Crystal Springs. I always watch from the corner of Crystal Springs and Cypress Ave. because it is close to my house. I love walking to San Bruno Park afterwards to socialize, buy a hot dog and watch a baseball game, which is usually between St. Robert's and Parkside...seems so politically "incorrect"...catholic school vs. public. Oh well, it's still cool! :)
