Downtown San Bruno: What's Next for Fixing Its Problems?

After my first blog post about my concerns about downtown, I didn't necessarily think anything would happen. Then the mayor called. Now I want to continue this conversation.

Well that was fantastic for the first time blogger!

It was wonderful hearing from all of you. It is obvious there are MANY people out there concerned about our community. Many have questions, suggestions and grievences as I do.

I am VERY happy The Chamber is also involved with our conversation and taking the time to answer some questions and listen to suggestions. Never doing this before, I have NO idea what's next.

I went to bed thinking just that: "What Next??"

I do not work on Tuesdays at the Salon. So I was Very surprised when the Salon called saying that The Mayor called!!! I thought it was a joke. It was not. The Mayor REALLY called!

So... Does The Mayor call everyone?? If he does, that's very cool. If he doesn't make that a practice and just called Me, that's really really cool!

In any event, I think, The Mayor calling us after our wonderful dialog on San Bruno Patch is pretty damn cool. It tells me that he is listening. He's not even in town for goodness sake!

For him to take the time to call, in my opinion, is great. It's a start. And I'm impressed. (I am a little embarrassed that I don't know The Mayor. Shouldn't I know him?)

So I am looking forward to meeting with him. Now... What else shall we discuss with our Mayor? Tell me. Its a START.

Oh yes Mr. Mayor, this is our busy season ... I work Wed- Sat. 10am-8pm I am available anytime on Monday or Tuesday, I'm sure your schedule is worse. But maybe we (all) can stroll down The Avenue.

Mayor Ruane is very good and following up and keeping in touch with folks. In fact, all members of the city council do a good job of this. I'm glad to hear you are engaging the Chamber of Commerce and are keeping this discussion moving forward. It is a topic of conversation that should continue to be had.

How about a fund raiser/ Flea Market on the Ave for the Schools. All the PTA's could arrange a section of the street, where parent, children, teachers, and local resident's could raise a few dollars in these tuff times. Cap Band could play and maybe the Cap Football Champs could come and meet other kids that want to play sports.Good Family Event for San Bruno. What do you think Jammie. You could put it together. Maybe some day a carnival.

Mary an, I echo Joe's comments. The Mayor,Council, Chamber, and I'm sure the Merchants are all looking for progress to improve the Downtown. By raising your thoughts and concerns this process moves forward.

Any word on how the turn out for the Farmers Market was Sunday?
Mary an Stanley November 20, 2012 at 02:25 AM
Hi John, I haven't heard anything yet, this is the first time I was able to get online today. But I do believe Sunday was the last day of the season for the farmers market. I read on Saturday that Robert from The Chamber in charge of the Market asked if anyone had any ideas for the new season, I gave them my idea via e-mail . Please John e-mail your thoughts , you have so many good ideas!!! And anybody else who has ideas please please please tell The Chamber via email! Office@sanbrunochamber.com I will continue my questions to The Chamber via blog this evening .
