I figure that all you guys are online anyway, and like trees, or you wouldn't be reading this article.
The news is that beverage company Odwalla is offering $10,000 to 10 projects around the country with the most votes between now and June 1. Two-minute videos made by each of the top 20 can be seen here. You have to be at least 18 to vote, and you only get to cast one vote. Period.
There are two that I feel pretty strongly about. One candidate is California ReLeaf, which has a Healthy Trees Healthy Kids program that wants to plant 114 trees on the Brentwood Elementary School Campus in East Palo Alto.
The other candidate I like a lot is Just One Tree, which wants to plant 12,000 lemon trees to make San Francisco completely self-sustaining with respect to lemons. And you know how popular Improved Meyer Lemons were when residents had the chance to plant them in their backyards, or on their decks, or even as indoor trees.
So please check it out and cast your vote. Any project that plants trees is a worthy cause. But a healthy school environment and lemons for all? Well, you can't beat that.
