San Bruno Residents:
As a proud supporter of San Bruno schools, I'd like you to consider joining me for two events this week, brought to you by the San Bruno Education Foundation. Neither event requires much from you other than doing two things you probably do anyway: shopping and eating.
The shopping event is our Second Annual Book Fair At Barnes & Noble, Dec. 1, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. SBEF will receive a portion of sales at the Tanforan Barnes & Noble - up to 20 percent, depending on the amount of sales we generate.
All you need to do is come to the store, look for us, buy something--yes, Starbuck's coffee and food counts!--and give our name and/or special code number ( 10706695 ) when you check out.
We will also have members of the Parkside student community playing music, wrapping gifts, and otherwise being helpful to our shoppers.
Please don't forget to tip the gift wrapping kids, any amount is appreciated.
Last year this event included over 60 student and adult volunteers and generated nearly $1000 for SBEF.
If you are a teacher or other educator, you qualify for a discount at Barnes & Noble, and your discount will be good during this event as well.
If you can't make it, you can also shop online from Saturday through Wednesday, again, using our code number ( 10706695 ), and a percentage of your sale will be donated.
We do receive a higher percentage of the in-store sales, however, so try to visit in person if you can.
Second, when it comes to the eating part of this easy fundraising, we think we have the best place in town.
We're holding our third "First Wednesday" fundraiser Wednesday night, December 5, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Araujo's.
So far this has been a great success, generating over $500 a night for SBEF.
Our host, Miguel Araujo, is generously donating 50% of the sales during the evening to SBEF.
Please remember that to-go orders are included, however, Araujo's cannot include delivery orders in this offer.
Last, please consider signing up for the regular SBEF newsletter at www.SanBrunoEdFound.org.
You will receive regular notice of all SBEF events and fundraisers.
Thank you all for ALL of your efforts to help our schools in 2012. I have every confidence that our schools will prosper and succeed in the new year.
