6 Plane Crash Victims Still in Critical Condition

Many passengers suffered abdonimal and spine injuries in the crash at SFO.

Seventeen passengers from Asiana Airlines Flight 214 are still at San Francisco General Hospital, and 10 remain at Stanford Hospital. Six of the 17 San Francisco patients are in critical condition, including one child, San Francisco General spokeswoman Rachael Kagan said. 

The victims' injuries include spinal cord problems, traumatic brain injury, abdominal injuries, internal bleeding, road rash and fractures. Their conditions range from serious to good condition. 

There were 291 passengers on board the plane, and as many as 181 were injured. The wounded were sent to several Bay Area hospitals. A total of 62 patients were treated at San Francisco General following the accident and 45 of those have been discharged. 

The latest wave of patients arrived at SFGH around 9 p.m. Sunday. That group consisted of eight adults and one child who had neck and back injuries, abdominal pain and muscle strain. All nine were treated and released. 

Monday afternoon, there are 10 patients at Stanford Hospital. Following the crash, 55 patients were transported there. Of those 10 patients, only one remains in critical condition. The others are listed in fair or good condition, hospital officials said.    Seven juveniles admitted to Lucile Packard Children's Hospital were released Sunday evening.
