Armed Robbers Hit Two Downtown Businesses

Police are seeking two hold-up suspects.

The is investigating two armed robberies that struck downtown businesses this week and is asking for the public's help in leading to the arrests of the suspects.

According to police, the first robbery happened at about 9:16 p.m. Monday when a man entered a store on the 500 block of San Mateo Avenue and demanded money from a clerk, brandishing a gun. The man fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

Then at about 12:32 a.m. today, a store on the 600 block of San Bruno Avenue West got robbed. Police said a man demanded cash from a clerk in the store, holding a gun, and then fled with an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register.

Police would not name the stores robbed or say whether the two robberies were related.

The suspect in the Monday robbery was described as an African-American man who was about 5-foot-9, in his 20s and 180 pounds. He was wearing a dark colored baseball hat, blue jeans and had his face partially covered.
