San Bruno Man Arrested Made in Hillsborough Burglary Case

A 31-year-old San Bruno man was found with stolen goods in his car, after he knocked on a door and was reported to police.

An alert resident helped Hillsborough police officers make an arrest in a rash of burglaries that have been plaguing the city and the Peninsula.

Police were called to the 600 block of Darrell Road after a report of a suspicious man knocking on the front door.

Police detained the man as he was getting into his car and a search of the car revealed stolen property taken from the residence, police said in a press release.

They arrested Federico Horny, 31, from San Bruno, for possession of stolen property and violation of the terms of his probation.  He was booked into the San Mateo County Jail.

Property from Horny’s vehicle was seized pursuant to this investigation and it is believed that many of the items were stolen from other locations.  Hillsborough Inspectors are in the process of identifying the owners of this property and are working with our partners in other jurisdictions to determine if additional crimes were committed by Horny.

Mr. Federico Horny was driving a silver 1991 Toyota 2-Door pick-up truck at the time of his arrest.  The Hillsborough Police Department is asking that any witnesses who may have seen Horny or his vehicle to please contact 650-375-7470.
