Caltrain Service Resumes Following Fire

8:50 p.m.

Guittard Chocolate Factory has tweeted, "All is well in the land of chocolate. It was a brush fire very close, but not at, the factory. Thanks for everyone's concerns."

8:40 p.m.

A fire at the Guittard Chocolate Factory is reportedly to blame for an interruption in Caltrain service Wednesday night.

8:20 p.m. Update:

The Caltrain tracks in Burlingame reopened at 8:13 p.m. Caltrain will now begin the process of getting back on schedule.

8 p.m. Update:

SamTrans is now providing a free bus bridge between San Mateo, Burlingame, and Millbrae.

SamTrans, VTA and BART are all accepting Caltrain tickets.

Exacerbating problems, many Caltrain employees have reached the ends of their shifts. They will have to be replaced before the trains can move again.


7:55 p.m. Update:

Caltrain advice: "Riders at stations are advised to take SamTrans Route ECR which serves stops on El Camino Real every 15 minutes." 

7:45 p.m. Update:

According to Caltrain spokeswoman Christine Dunn, the following trains are stopped:
  • No. 380 at Millbrae 
  • No. 386 at San Bruno 
  • No. 284 at South San Francisco

In addition, No. 278 on the move southbound approaching Hillsdale, 60 minutes late.
