Driver in Fatal Crash Pleads Not Guilty

The driver who killed two cousins and injured four others in a crash on El Camino Real in San Bruno in July pleaded not guilty in court today.

Rodney Corsiglia, 49, of San Bruno has been charged with two counts of murder, vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence causing injury and death.

On July 28, Corsiglia, who had a and was driving on a suspended license, apparently  Arnulfo Picazo and Usbaldo Gomez, who were stopped at a light at Sneath Lane and El Camino Real.

, cousins who were coming from the baptism of Gomez's daughter, were killed in the crash.

Corsiglia also struck two other vehicles that were stopped at the intersection. 

Corsiglia appeared in court wearing a red prisoner's jumpsuit, and his attorney entered his plea on his behalf during a brief hearing while several family members of Picazo and Gomez sat in the audience. 

The court also received several stacks of files related to Corsiglia's medical history, which includes a that has apparently left him seizure-prone and mentally retarded, according to an attorney who previously represented him.

Corsiglia is being held without bail in San Mateo County Jail, and he is expected to be back in court on Oct. 5.
