UPDATED: Pedestrian Fatally Hit by San Bruno Motorist Identified

A San Bruno motorist told police he struck a pedestrian in the roadway in Pacifica while officers were conducting their investigation into the accident.

A pedestrian who died after being hit by a suspected drunken driver in Pacifica early Sunday morning has been identified as 25-year-old Scott Garrigan, the San Mateo County coroner's office said.

Garrigan, a Pacifica resident, was found dead near Skyline Boulevard and Sharp Park Road about 1:35am Sunday.

While officers were conducting an investigation, a motorist, 57-year-old San Bruno resident Leopaldo Tobilla, arrived at the scene and said he had struck a person walking in the roadway.

Tobilla was determined to have been driving under the influence of alcohol and was arrested for DUI resulting in fatal injury, vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of a collision that had resulted in a fatal injury.

He was taken to San Mateo County Jail in Redwood City.
