Update: 2 Killed When SUV Plunges 100 Feet Off I-280

Traffic was backed up for miles during the Monday afternoon commute.

Update:
The California Highway Patrol  (CHP) confirms that two people were killed when an SUV crashed off I-280 in Burlingame Monday near the Trousdale exit. 
The vehicle plunged off a 100 feet drop. The victims were pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other injuries.
The CHP received its first 911 call at 5:21 p.m. Traffic backed up for miles behind the crash.
The victims have not been identified. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

All lanes of the highway reopened at 7:29 p.m.

Traffic is backed up for miles because of a deadly accident on northbound I-280 in Burlingame near the Trousdale Exit.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) received an initial report of the accident around 5:30 p.m.

Two people were in a vehicle that went off the road. The coroner has been called to the scene. There is an unconfirmed report from CHP dispatch that both were killed.

Right now, just the right hand lane remains closed as emergency crews continue to work at the scene.
