FBI: Double-digit Increase in San Bruno Burglaries

The same report showed that violent crimes were virtually unchanged.

San Bruno’s violent crime rate is virtually unchanged, while property crimes are on the rise, according to the most recent data released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

There were no reported murders in 2012, while the number of rapes increased to 11 from 8 the previous year.

The biggest change was reported in property crimes. San Bruno’s property crimes rose almost 5 percent, with the largest spike coming from burglaries, up 17 percent. There were 128 reported burglaries in 2012, up from 109 the previous year.

Nationwide, the FBI’s 2012 statistics show an increase of violent crimes and a decrease of property crimes. The data was compiled from 18,000 jurisdictions in all 50 states.

The FBI's Uniform Crime Reports also included the number of police officers in the nation’s police departments.
