Firefighters Battle Grass Fire (Slideshow)

It takes the efforts of dozens of emergency workers to keep a small fire from turning into a tragedy.

Last Thursday, firefighters quickly responded to a grass fire on a hillside in San Bruno. It was heading straight up the hill toward residences at the top.

Firefighters attacked the blaze with fire hoses, then followed up with hand tools, such as shovels, to make sure the fire was completely out.

Their quick work ensured that no homes were lost, and no one was injured.

The fire was contained to just one quarter of an acre. That sounds like no big deal--but the reason it was 'no big deal' was because of the efforts of firefighters and the police who gave them backup.

Here's a slideshow showing them in action.
