Firefighters Contain Grass Fire in San Bruno

The blaze is considered suspicious, though a cause has not yet been determined.

Firefighters have contained a quarter-acre grass fire that burned Thursday afternoon near an apartment complex in San Bruno, fire officials said.

The blaze was reported just before 3 p.m. at Shelter Creek Lane and Whitman Way.

No one was injured and no structures were damaged, though the flames came within 100 yards of an apartment complex at the top of the hill.

A resident who was home at the time of the fire said he's seen a blaze there before, but he wasn't too concerned.

Firefighters from Cal Fire, San Bruno and Millbrae fire departments responded to the blaze. Once the flames were out, firefighters used hand tools to make sure the entire blaze was extinguished.

Fire officials at the scene said the fire is considered suspicious in nature, and were interviewing witnesses. No official determination on the cause has been made.
