Gun Battle at San Mateo Home Leaves Several Victims

One person was found in the home, but two other gunshot victims showed up at a hospital.

At least one person was wounded in a gun battle that occurred inside a San Mateo home late Wednesday, a police sergeant said.
At about 11:30 p.m., police received reports of shots fired in the 1500 block of Lodi Avenue, near South Norfolk Street east of U.S. Highway 101.
Officers arrived and found a 24-year-old man who had been shot in the shoulder. His injury is not considered life-threatening, police said.
The wounded man's home appeared to have been the scene of a gun battle, and there was evidence that other people had been seriously injured by the gunfire, San Mateo police Sgt. Dave Norris said.
Investigators are looking into the possibility that two people who later turned up at a San Jose hospital with gunshot wounds were injured in the San Mateo shooting.
Norris said he could not confirm that one of those victims had died, but the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office reported that there was a fatal gunshot victim overnight and that the case had been transferred to the San Mateo County coroner's office.
San Mateo detectives are speaking with witnesses to sort out the details of the shooting.

Norris said it appears the home where the gun battle occurred was targeted and that the incident was not a "random act."

Police plan to release more details later this morning.
