After two years, a major San Bruno marijuana cases is in San Mateo Superior Court this week.
In April of 2011, the county Narcotics Task Force executed a search warrant at a San Bruno grow house operated by Kenny Kong, now 36.
Over 540 marijuana plants were found in the house. According to San Mateo County District Attorney's Office notes, Kong is also suspected of kicking in the door of another San Bruno grow house two weeks after the bust. That house was occupied by "two older Asian-American women," the DA's office said.
The jury trial proceeded Monday morning and is expected to last five days.
Kong faces charges of possession of marijuana for sale, cultivation of marijuana, using a building to manufacture a controlled substance and destroying property.
