Man Faces Prison for Downtown Robberies

Anthony Redwood robbed two liquor stores in downtown San Bruno in August using a fake gun. The robberies were all caught on tape.

The 22-year-old man arrested for two downtown robberies in August pleaded no contest to robbery charges Friday, the San Mateo County District Attorney's office said.

on surveillance video hitting two liquor stores with a fake gun in separate Aug. 15 and 18 incidents. Witnesses told police Redwood wore a mask and brandished a weapon, although authorities later determined the gun wasn't real.

Redwood faces up to three years in state prison for the robberies because the replica weapon enhanced the charges—it was made of metal and capable of producing bodily harm, a judge determined—and because he was already a convicted felon.
