Police: Knife, Hammer Used in 3 Armed Robberies in 2 Days in San Bruno

A kitchen knife and a hammer were the weapons used in three separate armed robberies that took place over a two-day span Monday and Tuesday in San Bruno, police said. 

All three robberies took place near the city's Commodore Park area. 

The first incident took place at 5:37 p.m. Monday in the 1000 block of Cherry Avenue. A victim reported to police that a suspect armed with a large kitchen knife approached him and demanded his personal property, including his laptop computer, according to police. 

After taking the victim's property, the suspect ran toward a nearby apartment building. 

The suspect in the first incident was described as a Hispanic man in his mid to late 20s who is about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a skinny build. He was reportedly wearing a black trench coat. 

At around 10:20 a.m. the next day, police received a report that two suspects approached a man with a kitchen knife and demanded his personal property. After taking the victim's wallet and cellphone, the suspects fled to the same nearby apartment building, police said. 

One of the suspects matched the description of the suspect in the first armed robbery, according to police. A second suspect, also a Hispanic man in his late 20s, reportedly had a thin build and thick mustache, according to police. He was wearing a black wool cap and carried a black backpack. 

About three hours later, at 1:47 p.m. Tuesday, a third victim came into the San Bruno Police Department to report that he had been the victim of a similar crime. 

In this case, the victim was approached by a suspect armed with a hammer around 9 p.m. Monday. The victim told police that two suspects cornered him in a bathroom at Commodore Park, where they brandished a hammer and demanded his property. 

The victim turned over cash and other belongings before the suspects ran away. Both suspects matched the descriptions of the suspects in the other two incidents.
